Barbara O'Leary - The horsewoman of Deep Sigh... She has been in the equestrian world for over 30 years. Barbara comes from Wading River on the east end of Long Island, New York and has been a resident of South Carolina since 1983.

As a youth, she rode Western Gymkanna and English Pony Hunter jumping 2'3" at the age of 13. Her love of horses has kept her involved in the world of horses enjoying a more relaxed time with the animals she calls friends.  At one time Barbara has owned and cared for over 13 personal horses, some of which were rescued from starvation and abandonment. Now she takes pleasure in training both the horse and rider in a Natural Horsemanship style and teaching others the love and respect of horses that she has come to know herself .

A lifelong dream, that's what this is all about. I can remember as a child being fascinated by these large animals my uncle owned. I can recall him sitting me atop my first pony and leading me around the farm. It has been in my blood ever since that day. To this day I still prefer the smell of hay and manure to fancy perfume. To me, there is not a sweeter sound than that of the horses as they nicker and call to one another across the barn and the pastures.

I have always dreamed of having a barn such as this with these magnificent animals. My husband , Kirk, having grown up in the mountains of California has always had a fondness for horses as well. He will share his favorite stories about an old horse named Smokey Britches if you ask.

Our love and passion for horses has been a constant in our lives. I started working and riding at the local barn at the age of 10 cleaning stalls in exchange for lessons and riding time. We rode trails and learned to think like a horse. As I evolved in my riding skills I have had the privilege and good fortune to be instructed in both the English and Western worlds of horsemanship. I have shown over the years and enjoy it. Now I get to enjoy teaching and training both children and adults introducing them to the world of the horse.

Our mission is to provide a peaceful, relaxing, clean place for horse lovers to enjoy their time with their friend... their horse. We strive to make this barn feel like a home not just to your horse but to our riders as well.
